Now with Full-Color CCD Photograph of the Entire Night Sky Visible from Earth!

Starry Night Pro Plus version 5.0 enhances your observation experiences with the first-ever, full-color photograph of the entire night sky, to a limiting magnitude of 14-15. Quickly and easily navigate the full-color CCD image mosaic comprised of about 20,000 individual images taken with a 6 mega-pixel CCD camera and custom-built optical system.

Make the most of the enhanced telescope controls to find your target and capture it using the new plug-in to MaxIm DL* imaging software. This innovative integration lets you find your target, take and process pictures with MaxIm DL and then import these pictures back into Starry Night.

Add exciting, new dimensions to your passion for the night sky with the ability to create your own stunning astrophotography.

  • Control most popular brands of computerized telescopes including Orion SkyQuest Intelliscope, Meade LX-200 and AutoStar and Celestron Nexstar series (additional cable required)
  • View over 55 million stars and 1 million galaxies with online link to 500 million stars
  • Customize field-of-view indicators to match your eyepieces stored in the equipment list
  • Store comments and images on individual targets in observation logs
  • Print full sky (180 degree) star charts of any area in the sky
  • Receive automatic updates of new discoveries and orbital data of satellites, comets, and asteroids

*MaxIm DL Advanced CCD Imaging Software for Windows is sold separately.

    New Features
  • Nebula Outlines – Added Outlines and positional data for 1400 dark, emission, planetary and reflection nebulae.
  • Star Cluster Catalogs - Added positional data for 1700 globular and open clusters.
  • Default Equipment Database – for CCDs, telescopes, binoculars, and eyepieces added. Choose FOV indicators from a database of over 200 Orion, Meade, Celestron and Vixen scopes, binoculars, and SBIG, Apogee, FLI and Starlight Express CCD chips.
  • Field-of-View-Indicators (FOV) Support for DSLR (digital) cameras - A list of popular cameras has been added to the Equipment List database. FOV Position Angle can also be rotated directly onscreen.
  • Improved Digital Settings Circles Support for non-motorized telescopes such as: Orion SkyQuest IntelliScope, NGCMAX, Lumicon Sky Vector, Discovery Digital Star Finder, Orion SkyWizard III, and Celestron Advanced Astromaster.
  • Computer Controlled Focuser Support (Windows only) - Control your robotic telescope focuser. Supported models include: AstroOptik telescopes, Astrophysics GTO mount, Finger Lakes focusers, Gemini equipped mount, JMI Smart Focus, Meade LX200 and Autostar, Optec TCF-S, and PCFocus.
  • Advanced Telescope Control Panel - more precise control of robotic telescopes with 'nudge' control and telescope slew limits.
  • Space Missions (Probe Paths) - Follow the actual path of a space probe's orbit through the solar system in Starry Night. The space probe's past, current and future paths can be drawn onscreen. Explore interplanetary space missions and relive some of the spectacular views seen by Voyager 1 and 2, Pioneer 10 and 11, Galileo, Mars Express, and Cassini and Huygens.
  • 3-D Object Models - Starry Night now supports 3DS models with textured surfaces, allowing for the display of irregularly shaped 3-dimensional objects such as spacecraft or small planetary moons and asteroids. The spacecraft models of Pioneer 10 and 11, Galileo and the Cassini Huygens probe and the asteroids Annefrank, Braille, Bacchus are included.
  • Clear Sky Clock (Internet connection required) - Check out your local astronomical weather forecast when planning your observing session.
  • Google Maps Integration (Internet connection required) – Click on any location on Earth while hovering and select Google Map for a Google Map for that precise location.
  • Zip/Postal code look-up - Find the latitude and longitude of your location by entering your zip code (US) or postal code (Canada).
  • Searchable Locations - Locations are now searchable by country, province/state, and location "type" (e.g. observatory).
  • Location Markers – Assign markers to any predefined location on Earth or any other rocky planet or moon where have surface data is available. For example, the Apollo mission landing sites.
  • Location Specific Horizon Panoramas - When you select New York from the location list, you will be greeted by a photorealistic landscape of Central Park. Where possible, our panoramas have been associated with their respective locations.
  • More Detailed Object Info - Stars now show a spectral class
